so this year race has really been into basketball. this is his second time playing on a team, but for some reason this time it has really hit him. he LOVES it. he carries his ball everywhere. he takes it to and from school and bounces it when he gets home. he practically sleeps with it. he says it is his favorite sport. ricky and i were bummed because we are soccer fans but what can you do. he knows what he likes.
so last thursday the Phoenix Suns Gorilla came to the kids' school. the family was invited so i took trent, tyson and averi. i thought the boys would really like to be there and they did. it was a great performance from the gorilla. after it was over i went up to the gorillas spokeman to tell him that my hubby and son were going to the basketball game on friday and ask him if there was anyway i can have the gorilla stop by their seats. the spokeman told me to send an email to the gorilla. so i did.
At the first time out the gorilla came to their seats and gave race a high five and swirled around his hair then two cheerleaders and the gorilla took race down on the court to be on the smile cam on the big tron. race was smiling like crazy but a little shy.
ricky said race was into the game the entire time. he knew the score, what was going on and was very observant. he noticed the time clock above the hoop and that Nash was the best player. evidently race did not stop talking the entire time. ricky wanted to leave about 4th quarter but race was not ready. even after the game was over they were walking out and race wanted to go back and see the court again. then when they got home around 10:00 (2 hours after race normally goes to sleep) he made ricky hang up a poster he got at the game. now he wants to watch basketball every night on tv. i love that he loves something so much. it is way cute.
yesterday at church in class he drew a picture of our family and then wrote SUNS across the top. what was he thinking about at church???
here is a pic that a women took of them before the game started. not too mention they were there 1 hr and 15 min. early.
