Last week was spring break. We did something fun each day. Whether it was go out to lunch or go to a park or go bowling. We all had fun. The last part of the break we headed camping with my cousins. It was a bit crazy. The first night we were freezing. The second night the wind was out of control and we had to ditch our tent and sleep in my cousins trailer. We had 15 people and 2 dogs in this trailer. They were so nice to let my family tag along. Ricky was working at a swim meet all weekend so he couldnt go. I took Tori, my nephews girlfriend, to help me out. My kids love her and she is fun to hang with. Race rode his first dirt bike. He loved it. We now need to get one of those and a quad. My cousins oldest son took all the kids on Ranger rides. There were really fun trails. The kids really had a blast. Still doing laundry from the trip a week later but so worth it. :)
A couple weeks ago, we went to dinner at Grandpa Manning's. The kids got to pick carrots out of grandpa's garden. They were so good. We had yummy roast and Ricky gave a spiritual thought about Joseph Smith. It was a great day to be in his home. It was also a bit sad to be there without Grandma. She is surely missed.
Ricky and our brother in law Derek did a duathlon in the rain and mud. It was just for fun. They loved it. Heather and I had so much fun watching. It was a bit cold and wet but so fun!
In February my parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They are so awesome! They are such good examples of true love. I cant wait for my 50th wedding anniversary. My parents through a small party at their house. Here are a couple pics of just us kids. No spouses were in the pics because we had one missing. :(
On February 9th Grandma Manning past away. She had a stroke a few weeks prior and it was a big one. She never went back home. She couldn't talk very well and she couldn't swallow. It was so hard. The kids had asked a few times to go see her but I didn't know how they could handle it. After about 6 days in the hospital they moved her to hospice. We finally let the kids go see her there. They did great. Grandma told each one she loved them. She knew who they were and touched each of their faces. Grandma had some great experiences while she was so close the vail. It was precious. It was so tough on Grandpa. He was not ready for it at all. He didn't want to let her go. We all know that she is going to be in a safe place and seeing all her family. We will definitely miss grandma. Here are some pics from the funeral.
So the kids have been asking for a new dog for over a year. I guess the 10 year old poodle doesnt work for them. :) Ricky and I have been putting it off for so long. The kids have been trying to "sell" their toys on craigslist so they could buy one themselves. Well, I guess their determination worked because we now have a goldendoodle. We got a great deal on her because she was 14 wks when we got her. Her birthday is November 10th 2009. She is getting big already. We wanted a larger dog that didnt shed so we went with the goldendoodle. She has been a great puppy. We are crate training her and she doesnt cry at night in her crate at all. She is awesome. The kids are having a blast. WE went back and forth on her name. Ricky finally names her Jessi, from Toy Story.
Kali started Tennis in February. A girl after my own heart. She loves it! She is pretty good too. I love she has picked something she likes. She has been so hard to try to find something she likes. The other cool thing is that she is taking lesson with her cousin Hailey. It is so fun being close to family to share fun memories together. She is so cute out there.
Back in January Race took a trip to the Gilbert Museum with his scouts. Here are some silly pics of him and his friends, Kyle Conway and Chase Fraughton.
