last tuesday was my brother jeff's birthday.  all us girls, my parents, and grandma took him to lunch for a surprise.  we have never done that so it was really fun.  while we were there we played a game of "how well do you know jeff".  it was fun.  we pulled questions out of a hat and you had to answer it.  i think he really enjoyed it.  not too mention we went to one of the yummiest restaurants around, Cristos.  the sweet hubby i have took trent and tyson for me so i only had averi.

tyson got his cast off on wednesday.  YEAH!  when we got into our room the doctor warned us that the machine to cut it off was VERY loud and he will start to cry, all kids do. but even if he cries he wants ricky to hold him down because he is not going to stop.  i stepped outside to averi wouldnt cry from the noise.  well, evidently there was a first in their offices, tyson laughed.  he thought it was tickling him.  his arm was great.  he had a few marks from the cast but he straightened it right away.  kids are so good at rebounding from injuries.

valentines day was fun.  i went to the school to celebrate in the kids' classrooms.  fortunately their rooms are across from each other so trent, tyson, averi and i jumped from room to room.  it was fun.  then i came home and my niece bonnie was coming over to babysit so ricky and i could go out to dinner and a movie.  my mom called and invited us over for steaks and dessert.  i went to ask ricky what he would rather do, a movie and dinner or go to my moms and have dinner and watch a movie she had purchased.  what do you think he said?  he wanted to go to my moms.  he LOVES my moms food.  she is really one of the best cooks i know.  her food is very simple but so yummy.  so we took averi and went over there for a quiet dinner and a movie.  if you know my moms house it is very relaxing.  i think it is so relaxing because it is not too cluttery and never a mess.  it was a lot of fun.

GO SUNS!

so this year race has really been into basketball.  this is his second time playing on a team, but for some reason this time it has really hit him.  he LOVES it.  he carries his ball everywhere.  he takes it to and from school and bounces it when he gets home.  he practically sleeps with it.  he says it is his favorite sport.  ricky and i were bummed because we are soccer fans but what can you do.  he knows what he likes.
so last thursday the Phoenix Suns Gorilla came to the kids' school.  the family was invited so i took trent, tyson and averi. i thought the boys would really like to be there and they did. it was a great performance from the gorilla.  after it was over i went up to the gorillas spokeman to tell him that my hubby and son were going to the basketball game on friday and ask him if there was anyway i can have the gorilla stop by their seats.  the spokeman told me to send an email to the gorilla.  so i did.
At the first time out the gorilla came to their seats and gave race a high five and swirled around his hair then two cheerleaders and the gorilla took race down on the court to be on the smile cam on the big tron.  race was smiling like crazy but a little shy.
ricky said race was into the game the entire time.  he knew the score, what was going on and was very observant.  he noticed the time clock above the hoop and that Nash was the best player. evidently race did not stop talking the entire time.  ricky wanted to leave about 4th quarter but race was not ready.  even after the game was over they were walking out and race wanted to go back and see the court again.  then when they got home around 10:00 (2 hours after race normally goes to sleep) he made ricky hang up a poster he got at the game. now he wants to watch basketball every night on tv.  i love that he loves something so much.  it is way cute.
yesterday at church in class he drew a picture of our family and then wrote SUNS across the top.  what was he thinking about at church???
here is a pic that a women took of them before the game started.  not too mention they were there 1 hr and 15 min. early.

averi again

today we got averis ear pierced today. i had ricky do the dirty work.  i walked away and ricky had to hold her.  she was not too happy.  she is okay now but it her took awhile to settle down.
of course when i got out the camera tyson wanted a photo too.

averi louise rogers

Averi at 3 months old.  she smiles and talks all day long to you.  she is such a good baby.  she does not like to be left alone.  she like the action of the crazy rogers house.  the other day averi was laying under her mat that has toys hanging down and she was grabbing them and trying to put them in her mouth.  i would have to say that i totally starting crying!  she is just getting so big so fast.  with her being our "last" i think i will be doing that quite frequently with all her different stages.
yesterday my sweet friend becky took pictures of averi for me.  one of my favorites is the one of her hands.  ever since she was born she always keeps her in hands right in front of her holding each other.  it is so cute.

super bowl

last sunday after church we drove to gilbert to watch the super bowl with rickys family.  the rogers are just so much fun. i love that we get together for everything just to hang out with each other. we truly are all great friends.  ellen converted the game room into an "adult only" game room. they got a new tv and redecorated.  it looks really good.    summer made bingo cards for the kids while they all watched Game Plan down stairs together.  It was so nice of her.  The kids totally loved it.
for the adults, because of course there is always something planned for the adults, holly made bingo cards for the adults for the commercials.  it was really funny.  and of course there were chocolate prizes.
it ended up being a really great game.  very fun! thank you Rogers for opening your home for everything!

Last Friday we played hookie and took the kids up north to my parents' cabin for the day.  My parents were already up there and said there was tons of snow right in the back yard.  Way convenient not to have to drive somewhere huh?  It was a perfect day.  The sun was out and plenty of snow to play in.  It wasnt too cold.   We went sledding in the neighbors driveway.  It is perfect for the kids.  Just the right slope.  We ate dinner and then came home.  It was a perfect day.
